This is my extra wild take on my previous product, named Fire tonic. Instead of focusing on making a traditional fire cider, I wanted to emphasize wild plants growing here in Vermont. I started with a base of raw organic apple cider vinegar and added local ginger, local garlic, local onions, and homegrown jalapeño peppers. These firey ingredients give the tonic a warming punch, which is great for kicking the immune system into high gear, and for clearing excess mucous and phlegm. They also help jump start your digestive fire.
My favorite part of this formula is the wild source of vitamin C I included: autumn olives, hawthorn berries, elderberries, rosehips, and Vermont grown organic cranberries. Not only do these ingredients add a tangy vitamin C dose, but they are also incredibly high in antioxidants. (I added a few organic oranges & lemons from a biodynamic farm in California as well)
To finish off the tonic I preserved a bunch of our garden herbs by steeping them in this immune vinegar (rosemary, oregano and some locally grown fresh turmeric). These anti-viral herbs help protect the immune system and add an earthy herbal punch.
I slightly sweetened this tonic with raw wildflower honey produced right here in Vermont.
