Mustard & Fennel Bath Soak
Mustard baths are a traditional folk remedy of England, used to clear up congestion, stimulate the immune system, soothe sore + achy muscles, and detoxify the body. Mustard naturally stimulates the sweat glands, allowing the pores to open and to help the body get rid of toxins. The increase in sweat + the increase in circulation provides muscle relief as well as reducing congestion. I mixed mineral rich dead sea salt with potent mustard powder, hand-ground fennel seeds and ginger to further make this soak warming and immune boosting. Epsom salts are used for their high magnesium content and relaxing effects, while lemon & bergamot essential oils provide further pain relieving and detoxifying benefits.
To use: at the first sign of a cold OR sore muscles, add 1-2 small handfuls to running hot bath water. Soak in the bath for at least 15 minutes. This can also be used as a healing and potent foot bath.
* When I feel a cold coming on, I swear by this method: Soak in the hot bath for at least 15 minutes while sipping a really hot ginger, lemon + honey tea (if you have elderberry syrup, I use that instead of the honey). This will substantially raise your body temperature, putting it in a feverish state, which the virus cannot survive in. I nip almost all colds in the bud with this method.
**For extra relaxation and sore muscle relief, I suggest adding an additional cup of epsom salts. This blend is VERY potent, and a little goes a long way. I didn't want to fill it with a bunch of epsom salts since they are easy to get at your local store and are inexpensive.
